Reconnect with Nature, Reconnect with Yourself

Nature has a way of grounding us, of reminding us what it means to feel truly alive. But in our fast-paced, tech-filled world, that connection can get lost. Forest Therapy is an invitation to slow down, step into the woods, and rediscover the peace that comes from being fully present in nature.

As a certified Forest Therapy Practitioner, I guide individuals and groups through gentle, immersive experiences designed to nurture wellbeing—mind, body, and spirit. Whether you’re looking to ease stress, improve focus, or simply carve out time for yourself, Forest Therapy offers a safe, restorative path back to balance.

What is Forest Therapy?

Forest Therapy, also known as Shinrin-Yoku or ‘forest bathing,’ is an evidence based practice that invites us to deepen our connection with the natural world. Rooted in the Japanese tradition of mindful nature immersion, it’s backed by decades of research showing profound benefits for mental and physical health.

Studies have shown that spending time in forests can lower cortisol levels (our stress hormone), boost immune function, and enhance mental clarity. But Forest Therapy isn’t just about science—it’s about slowing down, opening your senses, and allowing nature to nurture your soul.

Guided sessions include mindful walking, sensory awareness exercises, and quiet reflection. The experience is gentle, inclusive, and designed for all fitness levels. No special skills or prior experience are needed—just a willingness to step outside and breathe it all in.

Key benefits of Forest Therapy:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Improve focus and creativity.
  • Enhance physical wellbeing, including sleep and immune health.
  • Rediscover balance through nature.

Meet Your Forest Therapy Guide

I’m Jo, founder of Wild Wood Growers and a certified Forest Therapy Practitioner. My passion for nature began with a love of growing and working with plants, and it’s evolved over the years through experiences in kitchen gardening, herbalism, and mycology.

I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact nature can have on our mental and physical health, which inspired me to train as a Forest Therapy Practitioner. I’m committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone – no matter their background or experience – can reconnect with the natural world.

Through my sessions, I blend scientific knowledge, mindfulness practices, and heartfelt care to guide you on a restorative journey.

Your Questions Answered

Curious about Forest Therapy? Here are answers to some common questions to help you prepare and feel confident about your experience.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Layers are a good idea, as the weather in nature can change quickly.

Do I need to be fit?

Not at all. Forest Therapy is a gentle, slow-paced practice designed for all fitness levels. The focus is on being present, not covering distance.

What happens during a session?

Sessions typically include a short introduction, a slow walk with guided mindfulness invitations, and time for reflection. You’re encouraged to engage at your own pace – there’s no pressure to share or participate in a specific way.

What if it rains?

Unless the weather poses a safety risk, sessions go ahead rain or shine. Rain can add a unique sensory experience, so we encourage your to embrace it! If severe weather is forecast, we’ll reschedule.

Is it therapy?

Forest Therapy is not counseling or psychotherapy. It’s a guided experience in nature designed to support wellbeing. If you’re under the care of a mental health professional, you might find Forest Therapy a wonderful complement to your existing care. We recommend talking to your medical practitioner about coming along to Forest Therapy before you book a session.

Can I bring a friend or family member?

Yes! If you’d like to share the experience, consider booking a group session or we can arrange a private bespoke session for your party.
